“I Love You, Daddy”

We had lots of fun at the park that day. We climbed the hill and ran on the grass. We went down the slide together. You gave me a hug at the bottom and said, “I love you, daddy.”

After a trip to the candy store and time with grandma, we grabbed a blanket from the closet to play “monster”. When I caught you under the blanket, you stopped to look at me, and said “I love you, Daddy.”

We brushed our teeth and said our prayers. When we went to bed, you gave me a kiss and said “I love you, Daddy.”

I gave you a bath before church. When water got in your eyes, you cried and screamed. I dried you off and brushed your hair. I helped you with your dress. A smile appeared across your face, and in your own way you said, “I love you, Daddy.”

There are many things I try to say in the way I live my life. I work to provide and care for you. I may not be a perfect father, but one thing is certain–the time I spend with you is the way I say, “I love you, Mandy.”
